Bachelor in Paradise: A Bachelorette shows up and love triangles are broken
Sayulita, Mexico – The dumpster fire that is Bachelor in Paradise reached new levels of debauchery with love triangles galore and the surprise entrance of a Bachelorette.
The women had the roses this week, and to say all hell broke loose in the 24 hours prior to the ceremony would be a gross understatement.
Monday's episode saw Tammy Ly quite literally bee-line it from Aaron Clancy to his arch-enemy Thomas Jacobs, which led to dropped jaws across Paradise and Bachelor Nation.
But this wasn't the only love triangle unfolding or blowing up. Karl Smith made it very clear that he was into Deandra Kanu, and even gifted her a Pandora bracelet to show his gratitude simply for getting to know her (cue the awws).
But Chasen Nick wasn't about to let another man steal the heart of the "smoke show" and he ended up gifting her a not-so-flattering and gaudy Cuban chain link necklace.
Whether it was his playboy ways that had prepared him for this moment or genuine affection for Deandra, Chasen momentarily came out on top, leading Karl to call him "mister one-upper pants" like the mature adult he is.
Yet Deandra didn't pick Chasen over Karl at the rose ceremony. Instead, she decided to blindside everyone, including viewers, by calling Ivan Hall up to the plate for his very own rose.
Connor Brennan pretty much removed himself from the brief love triangle with Maurissa Gunn and Riley Christian after finding out they hit the "Boom-Boom Room" together.
This unfortunately meant that the fine feline from Katie Thurston's season had to pack his bags and get out of dodge.
Adding fuel to the dumpster fire
Demi Burnett may have thought she was victorious in her mission to steal Kenny Braasch from Mari Pepin, but that was before Tia Booth came to Paradise and swept Kenny away for a nude volleyball-playing date – leaving Demi's ego in a million little pieces.
The women were noticeably threatened when Becca Kufrin showed up, marking the first time a Bachelorette has entered the ring of Paradise. But Aaron on the other hand was completely smitten by her presence, saying that getting a rose from her would be "biblical".
The 26-year-old killed it with the analogies about Becca, referring to her as a dolphin in a wildlife exhibit who was free to do exactly what she was meant to do – find love in Paradise.
Thankfully for Aaron, he was the chosen one who won Becca's rose and lived on to see another day.
Tia understandably admitted she was scared that Demi was going to off her in her sleep for going out with Kenny, and he also confessed to being terrified of Demi. But that didn't stop the two from having a champagne-fueled make out session.
Then came the episode's climax. If there's something that adds fuel to the dumpster fire of Paradise, it's the guys having the roses. And who better to light the match than Grocery Store Joe's ex-girlfriend, Kendall Long.
But rather than being on a mission to make him jealous, Kendall is aiming to rekindle things with "butthead" Joe, even if it means taking him away from Serena Pitt.
If Kendall's arrival was earth-shattering, next week is sure to be explosive when Pieper James, Brendan Morais' supposed pre-Paradise fling, shows up.
Bachelor in Paradise returns Monday, September 6, at 8 PM EST.
