Arcane is snowballing as the new most-watched show on Netflix!
Los Angeles, California - The newest episodes from Arcane, an innovative collaboration between Riot Games and animation studio Fortiche, live up to the promise of Act I and even pulled ahead of the viral hit show Squid Game on Netflix.
The second act of Arcane further proves that viewers don’t have to be too familiar with the online game League of Legends to enjoy Netflix’s newest franchise. According to Flixpatrol, which ranks most-watched movies and shows on Netflix, Arcane took the number one spot on November 15, snagging the crown from Squid Games.
In Act I, the orphaned sisters Vi and Powder knocked over the plot's first domino piece with a failed robbery, causing tensions to boil over between Piltover and its undercity, Zaun. Meanwhile, scientists struggle to combine technology and magic.
After twists and turns, the two sisters are separated because of the tragic climax of episode three, with Powder being taken in by the ruthless crime boss, Silco, while Vi is imprisoned. In the rich halls of Piltover, Jayce and Viktor figure out the key to hextech, using magic to augment technology.
Act II, which debuted on November 13, picks up a few years after the events of Act I. Young Powder is now Jinx, the badass, tattooed, dual-braid wearing, multiple-gun-wielding criminal League fans are familiar with.
The tensions built up between Piltover and its undercity ramp up even more, forcing the show's characters to navigate political intrigue, political corruption, mental health issues, and crime.
There are light moments amidst the dark themes, but this show definitely has more than just a sucker punch for your feels.
November 20 is release day for Act 3 and the next episodes will likely keep up the pace through beautifully animated scenes and backdrops.
