Royal palace under pressure to reveal who will inherit Prince Philip's huge fortune

London, UK - On April 17, the royal family said its final goodbye to Prince Philip at an intimate funeral service. But one question remains open: who did the Queen's consort leave his millions to?

According to official sources, Prince Philip received a salary of 359,000 pounds (about $500,000) per year, which came from the royal grant and taxes.

Over the decades, that kind of money adds up. And indeed, as The Sun is reported, The Duke of Edinburgh left an estimated $42.5 million behind!

However, it's not clear exactly who is entitled to this sum after Philip's death at the age of 99.

Experts now fear that the Duke of Edinburgh's last will could be swept under the carpet by the palace and representatives of the judiciary and never be made public.

Lord Berkley, a British politician, recently asked the government if the will would be published. But According to Justice minister Lord Wolfson, the royal will can be closed to public inspection if it is "undesirable or otherwise inappropriate".

Royal finance expert David McClure hopes for transparency on the part of the crown. "If it's good enough for all citizens, why shouldn't it be good enough for the Royal Family? The reason you have testamentary transparency is to guard against fraud," he told the Daily Mirror.

Meanwhile, at least we know what will happen to Philip's beloved carriage and two ponies: his 17-year-old granddaughter Lady Louise is already in charge of their upkeep, according to the Daily Mail.

It remains to be seen whether the palace will shed light on the mystery surrounding Prince Philip's legal will.
