Heard it through the grapevine: are Harry and Meghan launching a wine business?
Montecito, California - Raise a drink to that! Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan could be the next pair saying "bottoms up" as they enter the celebrity wine business.
Following their recent multi-million dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify, the couple could toast to the launch of another lucrative venture as they depart from royal life.
Harry and Meghan's California neighbors are hoping the pair will follow the lead of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's successful Miraval rosé by getting their feet wet with their own winemaking business.
The couple's new $14.5 million Montecito mansion would be the perfect place to start a new brand, according to sources who spoke to the Daily Mail.
"It seems to be a very popular thing to do around here so I wouldn't be surprised if Harry and Meghan did the same," said Penny Bianchi. The local resident lives next door to Oprah Winfrey, with whom the couple had a bombshell interview in March.
"It would be really interesting and cool if they started a wine label of their own," Bianchi added.
Santa Barbara County is home to more than 275 wineries and has been depicted in award-winning films, like 2004 Oscar winner Sideways.
Just two hours away from LA, the local wineries are often frequented by celebrities. Winemakers in the vintner community said thy would embrace the former royals with open arms.
Other celebrities have tried winemaking in the area
There is no word yet from Harry and Meghan if they are keen on starting their own winery, but they would fit well in with some starry friends in the region.
Singers P!nk and Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas own wineries in the area.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and rocker Jon Bon Jovi have also all tried their hand at grape-growing.
The area's weather and mountainous conditions are great for producing pinot noir and chardonnay.
Duchess Meghan is already known to be a wine lover – her now-defunct lifestyle blog was named The Tig, after her favorite Italian red wine Tignanello.
Meghan and Harry are also already fans of wine from their new home state. They served a Domaine Eden pinot noir at their wedding at the palace in 2018.
The two are currently in mourning after the death of Harry's, grandfather Prince Philip, but only one of them will be returning to London for the funeral.
