Indio, California - The Coachella music festival announced Wednesday that The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia (SHM) will be replacing Kanye West as headliners.

Their set will take place in Indio, California, on Sunday, April 17 and 24, the final nights of each of the two weekends' long festival.

"I’m so looking forward to this moment with Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd finishing out the Sunday night slot this year," Paul Tollett, CEO of Coachella promoter Goldenvoice, told Variety.

"Coachella has a special relationship with [the Weeknd] and I’m so thankful to have this upcoming performance with these iconic artists all on the same stage."

Kanye West mysteriously dropped out of the festival earlier this week, creating major speculation about who would take over the headlining spot.

According to Complex, The Weeknd and the Red Hot Chili Peppers were at the top of the list as possible replacements.

This will be the Weeknd's second time headlining the fest, his first being back in 2018. He is also about to embark on his The After Hours Till Dawn stadium tour, which kicks off its first date on July 8.

SHM were included in the original lineup announcement, but their name was listed at the bottom with no specific date included.

Now it seems SHM will be sharing the stage with the Weeknd. Both acts also share the same management team, SalXCo.

The new flyer released on Wednesday reads, "Swedish House Mafia x The Weeknd," possibly hinting that both acts may combine their sets and perform together.

Although it was a bit of a letdown that Ye bailed on Coachella again, one thing is for certain – his replacements will surely put on one hell of a show.
