"Sexiest party of the year": Silk Sonic announces Las Vegas residency
Las Vegas, Nevada – Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars are hitting the Vegas strip in Silk Sonic style for a music residency unlike any other.
The dynamic duo behind Silk Sonic is coming to Park MGM for what they've appropriately dubbed, "The sexiest party of the year," per Silk Sonic's announcement via Instagram on Wednesday.
The show, An Evening With Silk Sonic, will take place at the Dolby Live theater within Park MGM, starting on February 25, playing a total of 13 shows at the 5,200-seat theater.
While it's been thought that most artists wait until the tail end of their careers to subscribe to a Vegas residency, it appears the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has shifted the narrative for many musicians, such as Adele and even Katy Perry.
Since touring and holding live shows has proven to be a bit challenging in the midst of a pandemic, many artists are looking for other ways to get in front of a live audience and roll in some big bucks to do so.
Given that Las Vegas, Nevada isn't too far from the Hollywood Hills of California, it seems that landing a Vegas residency might be the most ideal option, even for younger artists who are far from hitting their peak - such as Silk Sonic.
The band's residency will wrap up on April 2, one night before the rescheduled Grammy Awards are set to take place on April 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Though performers for the Grammys have yet to be announced, it seems a bit too convenient that Silk Sonic's residency would wrap the night before the big award show in the same exact city and not perform.
Tickets for An Evening With Silk Sonic will be available to purchase by the public starting Friday.
