Migos' Quavo honors late Takeoff with heartbreaking new song
Los Angeles, California - Migos star Quavo has paid tribute to his late nephew Takeoff with an emotional new song.
The track, titled Without You, dropped on Wednesday evening as the first song to be released from the rapper since Takeoff's tragic shooting death in November.
Quavo posted the song on Twitter, where the lyrics detailed the hip-hop artist's grief over losing his family member and creative partner.
"I wish I had a time machine / Just so you can take a ride with me/ I miss how you smile at me / Unc & Phew until infinity," the Walk it Like I Talk it artist says in the somber track.
The single is the first new music to come from the Migos member, who released a joint album with the late rapper, Only Built for Infinity Links, just weeks before his death.
Takeoff's memory lives on after fatal shooting
Takeoff, born Kirsnik Khari Ball was shot and killed on November 1 at a bowling alley in downtown Houston, where he and Quavo were at a private party with approximately 40 to 50 people in attendance.
Per reports, Takeoff was gunned down when an argument over a dice game broke out and was pronounced dead by police at the scene.
Since the rapper's passing, Quavo and fellow Migos member Offset, who was Takeoff's cousin, have continued to honor his memory with moving posts and tributes.
A memorial was held for the late star in Atlanta, where Justin Bieber performed his song, Ghost, and Drake eulogized the rapper.As Quavo said, "Long Live Take Infintiy."
