Lorde is bringing the Solar Power in new music video after four-year hiatus

Auckland, Ireland – With the release of her first single in four years, Lorde has re-emerged from her creative hole to bring Solar Power to the world after a year of immense darkness.

Sometimes, you don't know how dark the world has been until you get blasted by rays of light, shining down on everything you've been missing out on.

Lorde's music video for her new single Solar Power, which doubles as the title of her upcoming album, summoned the sunshine and positive energy to bring light back into the world after a year of being trapped inside.

In the video, the mystical singer is dressed in a yellow top and matching skirt, creating a stark yet beautiful contrast between her dark, luscious locks and pale, post-quarantine skin.

The song itself has a different cadence and sound than what fans have come to know the singer for, but that doesn't take away from its ingenuity and lyrical power.

As Lorde, born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, gallivants across a beach surrounded by friends clad in neutrals, she sings, "Lead the boys and girls onto the beaches. Come one, come all – I'll tell you my secrets. I'm kinda like a prettier Jesus."

The instrumentals instantaneously change up after she utters these words, mimicking the sound one could imagine a sunrise might make – if only it could.

Not only does Lorde display her toned body, a new sound, and radiant post-lockdown positivity, she's declaring to all that it's time to come out and dance amidst the sunshine, even if that sunshine is merely her presence.

The 24-year-old lyrical and rhythmic genius's re-emergence into the music scene has been long overdue, but she told The Edge that Solar Power has been sitting pretty in her arsenal since the summer of 2019.

The release date for Lorde's third full-length studio album Solar Power has yet to be announced.
