Will Marvel's Eternals cause confusion in the MCU?
Los Angeles, California – Marvel's Eternals will debut in theaters soon, but how will the story fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe's arch?
Fans are patiently waiting for Marvel's alluring new flick.
Not only does Eternals have an all-star cast – seriously, Angelina Jolie in a Marvel film is bonkers – but teasers and trailers have also hinted the mysterious group may be the next Avengers.
The movie follows the events of Avengers: Endgame when the rest of the humanity's returned thanks to Earth's mightiest heroes reversing Thanos' snap.
This causes the aliens who've been discreetly living among humans for 7,000 years to reunite to protect the planet from their evil counterparts – the Deviants.
Initially, fans were confused about the Eternals and what role they play in the MCU.
Marvel addressed this issue in its second trailer.
But will the introduction of these new characters, who each have their own storyline, cause more confusion in the MCU?
Are the Eternals the next Avengers?
Following Endgame, the Avengers have gone from their core five to just two active members.
That means Earth is short a few heroes.
This makes the timing of the Eternals coming out of hiding almost perfect.
Still, bringing 10 new characters to the already developed MCU in such a condensed time frame seems risky – especially since Marvel spent years meticulously developing the Avengers arch.
Plus, many weren't familiar with the comic book counterparts of these fictional beings.
Another point to make is that the MCU is currently entangled in the multiverse, and different dimensions are dealing with chaos and havoc it's causing.
All in all, the biggest question on everyone's mind is – just how will these celestial aliens fit into this new phase?
With Phase 4 of the MCU already underway, it wouldn't be farfetched to introduce new characters.
But these new heroes have some pretty big shoes to fill since the Avengers pretty much risked their lives saving the galaxy.
And with Harry Styles making a cameo appearance, fans will be critiquing the upcoming film and his Marvel debut.
Marvel's Eternals premieres in theaters on November 5.
