Glass Onion breaks a huge Netflix milestone
Los Gatos, California - You may have noticed that it's currently fashionable to enjoy movies and shows about rich people suffering. But Netflix's Glass Onion in particular has reached a new level of success.
If it isn't already clear after the popularity of shows like Succession and The White Lotus and films like The Menu and Triangle of Sadness that viewers love to watch the rich's downfall, then the success of Netflix's latest celebration of elite class schadenfreude is indisputable proof.
The murder mystery taking place on a billionaire's private island in Netflix's Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has now been seen in no less than 110 million households, the streaming giant says.
The crime thriller which sees Daniel Craig return as the Southern-twanged detective Benoit Blanc is now fifth on the platform's list of the most-watched Netflix films ever.
Company figures show the film had been watched in about 110 million households as of Sunday, with 253.72 million streamed hours in a little over two weeks since it was released on December 23.
The Netflix original is the most watched ever behind action comedy Red Notice with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot, the satire Don't Look Up with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, and Meryl Streep, as well as the science fiction horror thriller Bird Box with Sandra Bullock, and the action thriller The Gray Man with Ryan Gosling.
Like its predecessor Knives Out - Murder is a Family Affair, Glass Onion is a thriller in the style of old Agatha Christie film adaptations – sparking fans of the book genre to tune in, too.
And if you're one of the many millions who also can't get enough of Glass Onion, here are some more movies in the same vein.
