Fans urge Marvel to recast Chadwick Boseman's role in Black Panther 2

Atlanta, Georgia - Marvel fans have suggested that the late Chadwick Boseman's role as T'Challa/Black Panther be recast amid costar Leticia Wright's alleged on-set drama.

On Monday, the hashtag #RecastTChalla began trending on Twitter after fans suggested that Marvel recast Chadwick Boseman's (r.) role as T'Challa/Black Panther amid Leticia Wright's (l.) alleged anti-vaccination beliefs.

Following Chadwick's heartbreaking death in 2020, Marvel vowed not to recast the actor's iconic titular role in the upcoming Black Panther sequel.

However, the recent drama that is said to have taken place on set has fans requesting that the studio rethink its decision.

In November, production for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was halted because of an injury Leticia, who plays Shuri in the franchise, suffered on set in August.

However, amid her recovery, reports have surfaced that the star was spreading anti Covid-19 vaccination views to the cast and crew. She also received huge backlash after sharing a video making unproven claims about the vaccine's safety last year.

The Guyana-born British star has denied the allegations on set as "completely untrue" and filming for the sequel is set to resume in January.

Yet, die-hard Marvel fans believe that the next chapter in the Black Panther franchise deserves a new face, leading to the hashtag #RecastTChalla to trend on Twitter.

One fan tweeted, "I know this is a bit of a hot take but a lot of this rumored on set drama of Black Panther 2 might’ve been prevented if they just recast T’Challa. I know people loved Chadwick Boseman, I did too, but that character had more stories to tell."

Another user agreed, writing, "Absolutely. The world lost a wonderful man in Chadwick Boseman. It needn't lose T'Challa as well. You'll continue giving little black boys their royal hero, while also [give] a chance to a talented black actor to shine."

Yet, not everyone felt the same, as some still agreed with Marvel's instinct and argued that recasting the role would be disrespectful to Chadwick's legacy.
