Emma Roberts weaves her way into the MCU with Madame Web role
Burbank, California - Emma Roberts has been confirmed to join the star-studded cast of the upcoming Marvel movie Madame Web.
Another starlet has been caught in Sony-Marvel's ever-expanding web.
On Monday, Variety confirmed that the American Horror Story alum will join the cast of the latest movie set in Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters.
Roberts' (31) character has not been disclosed just yet, but our Spidey senses are tingling with anticipation over the budding cast.
Madame Web will serve as an origin story for the comic book character, reportedly played by Fifty Shades of Grey's Dakota Johnson (32), who is a clairvoyant with psychic abilities that allows her to see into the spider world.
Madame Web's cast continues to grow
Per Marvel, the supporting character, whose birth name is Cassandra Webb, is a blind elderly woman suffering from a chronic neuromuscular disease that makes it difficult to move and breathe.
The site further explained that Madame Web often advised Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man whenever the young hero was in need of guidance.
The official plot for the movie has not been released. But if it's a true origin story, then the film will probably focus on Madame Web's backstory.
Earlier this year, Johnson was confirmed to portray the titular character.
The 32-year-old actor will play the first the female superhero to appear in Sony's Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Shortly after Johnson's role was confirmed, news broke that Euphoria's breakout star Sydney Sweeney (24) had joined Sony-Marvel's web – though her specific role has been kept on the DL.
