Dwayne Johnson reveals shocking fate of Black Adam 2 amid DC shakeup
Los Angeles, California - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has shockingly confirmed that the superhero movie Black Adam won't be getting a sequel in DC's new future!
But it's not goodbye, it's just see you later, per the Jumanji star, as he finally gave fans an update on the future of DC's antihero.
On Tuesday evening, the Rock took to Twitter to share a lengthy statement confirming that after meeting with the new head honcho, James Gunn, Black Adam 2 isn't happening.
"My passionate friends, I wanted to give you a long-awaited Black Adam update regarding the character's future in the new DC Universe," the 50-year-old former wrestler began in the post.
The Fast and Furious alum did offer some hope that despite his action-packed superhero flick not getting a follow-up, his character's story will still "explored" in the DC Extended Universe's future chapters.
"James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters."
The Rock is "rooting" for DC amid intense fan backlash
The Rock also noted that he is giving the DC exec his support despite fans' fury at Gunn's recent decisions.
"James and I have known each other for years and have always rooted for each other to succeed."
He added, "It's no different now, and I will always root for DC (and Marvel) to win and WIN BIG. You guys know me, and I have very thick skin – and you can always count on me to be direct with my words. These decisions made by James and DC leadership represent their vision of DCEU through their creative lens."
The Rock's unfortunate announcement comes hot on the heels of the intense backlash Gunn has faced amid his DCEU shakeup.
From the axing of Wonder Woman 3, to Henry Cavill officially bidding adieu to his time as Superman, people aren't exactly happy with the direction of the DC franchise right now.
