Another Scream sequel is scary good news - and here's why
Hollywood, California - Paramount Pictures has confirmed that a sequel to the 2022 Scream movie is already in the works.
Do you like scary movies? If so, good news.
Ghostface will be back for a sixth installment.
On Thursday, Paramount and Spyglass confirmed in a statement via People that yet another Scream sequel is officially in the works.
It comes quickly on the heels of Scream 5, which landed in theaters only one month ago.
The same writers and directors from the fifth flick will again be returning to create the new script.
While many reboots and sequels have failed to make an impression, Scream 5 managed to avoid that error and was well-received by viewers and critics. Therefore, news of another chapter in the iconic series isn't surprising at all.
The most recent film proved that there are plenty of stories left to tell in the horror franchise.
Scream alums Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox reprised their roles in the latest movie, but they really took a backseat to the cast's newcomers. We can't wait to see more of the fresh faces' bloody adventures.
Plus, Scream 5's storyline kept everything tied to the original, but also cleverly left the door open for it to continue.
It's clear that the franchise seems to know what works best for its audiences, and doesn't mess with its formula.
So welcome back, Sydney. And let's see if you and friends can get out safely this (sixth) time around.
In the meantime, the latest Scream film is still in theaters.
