Titanfall, the game-changing FPS, is being put out of its misery

Los Angeles, California - Respawn Entertainment has made the first move to pull the plug on its online-only multiplayer game Titanfall, most likely because of the massive security issues that still plague the trendsetting title.

Titanfall, released in 2014, marked an exciting change from the yearly release of older franchises like Battlefield or Call of Duty.

The game mixed new movement mechanics with massive mechs and the combination was a breath of fresh air for the First-Person Shooter genre.

Unfortunately, this game-changing title is no longer available for purchase as of December and will be removed from subscription services in 2022.

Titanfall has often been hit by a type of hacking attack called Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), which bombards a server with requests, effectively bringing it down.

Players have been asking Respawn and its parent company, Electronic Arts, to heal the ailing game. Well, it seems the medicine Respawn chose will put it down for good.

The existing player base will still have access to the game, but there is already a hypothesis on Twitter and Reddit that explains why Respawn doesn't simply shut the game down, now. In their view, it all boils down to marketing, because Respawn would face serious backlash from Titanfall players if the game were shut down all at once, instead of the slower, tiered approach the developers are going with.

This is effectively a death knell for Titanfall, and some fans of the series are worried that Respawn won't ever make another Titanfall game following the news about delisting the first game.
