Tom Cruise's next movie could be out of this world – literally
Los Angeles, California - For his many action films, Tom Cruise has taken off in a wide variety of aircraft. Now, he's apparently aiming even higher with a project that's out of this world.
The Hollywood star is ready for blast-off!
The 60-year-old could soon be shooting an upcoming movie in space, according to chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group Donna Langley.
"We have a great project in development with Tom that does contemplate him ... taking a rocket up to the space station and shooting," she said in a recent interview with the BBC.
The exec added she hopes Cruise will be "the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside the space station."
The Top Gun actor suggested the idea to the film studio himself in a Zoom call during the pandemic.
Its plot, which Cruise is developing with director Doug Liman, "actually takes place on earth, and then the character needs to go up to space to save the day," Langley explained.
Exactly when or if the lofty film will actually lift-off is still written in the stars.
