The return of Wolverine? Hugh Jackman teases Marvel fans with sly new post
The Hamptons, New York - Is Hugh Jackman resurrecting Wolverine?
Marvel has been known to push the boundaries when it comes to storytelling.
Even the new Disney+ series WandaVision and Loki have dabbled with the ideas of various multiverses and realities.
Therefore, it's safe to say that no one really stays dead in the Marvel cinematic universe.
In 2019, Disney acquired the rights to the X-Men characters, but there wasn't any confirmation as to who would return to reprise their roles.
Hugh's 17-year portrayal of the Wolverine supposedly came to an end in the film Logan.
But, the actor may have raised the hopes of fans everywhere with a new coy post he shared on his Instagram Story.
On Monday, the Van Helsing star posted an image of the infamous silver claws and a photo of himself with Kevin Feige – who is the president of Marvel Studios.
The back-to-back pictures have sent the internet into a frenzy, with many wondering if the deceased character will rise from the grave.
Where do the X-Men fit in?
It also begs the question: If Wolverine is resurrected, where will he, and the X-Men, fit into the new MCU timeline?
The band of mutants is a Marvel creation, and the franchise has said it currently in the early stages of Phase 4 of their film unrolling.
As we're still watching certain storylines unfold, it has become clear that Phase 4 films will be completely different from their predecessors – but this doesn't diminish the number of possibilities!
Wolverine could be brought back in a movie set at any point in the past, as well as his fellow mutants.
Dark Phoenix, the most recent X-Men film, was largely seen as a disappointment. Perhaps the franchise could use a fresh reboot – with Wolverine leading the way!
