Taylor Swift taunts Swifties with glitzy cinematic Midnights surprise
New York, New York - Taylor Swift is gearing up for the release of her 10th studio album Midnights, and she just hit fans with a teaser for her second secret project of this new era: the Midnights Music Movies.
When Taylor Swift announced a two-week schedule of events to accompany the release of her surprise album Midnights, Swifties were certain she probably had more tricks up her sleeve, and it turned out – everyone's hunch was right.
On Thursday morning, the queen of Easter eggs revealed that not only would the teaser for her upcoming music video for the song Anti-Hero be dropping during Amazon Prime's Thursday Night Football broadcast, but that she'd also be filling people in on the projects (yes, plural) she's been working on.
As it turns out, those secret projects she's been working on are the "Midnights Music Movies" (again, plural), with the first being the short film for Anti-Hero, which comes out on Friday at 8 AM ET.
Translation: Midnights is a visual album.
Before the teaser trailer for her multi-video surprise, Swift said she wanted "to explore visually the world of this record" similarly as she did with the All Too Well short film. Given her obvious love for storytelling and her newfound liking of cinematic directing, the Grammy winner said giving some songs on Midnights the short film treatment seemed like a "really fun opportunity."
If the teaser that showcased Swift in a variety of looks – some rather flashy, and others reminiscent of her Fearless days – is any indication of what the 32-year-old has in store for the Midnights Music Movies and the Midnights era as a whole, the music world is in for seismic shake up of Swiftie proportions.
