Taylor Swift provides deflective response to Ticketmaster mess
New York, New York - Taylor Swift has broken her silence about The Eras Tour fiasco that came at the hands of Ticketmaster, and we're not sure how we feel about her response.
The moment Swifties – and the rest of the world – have been waiting for has finally come in the form of an Instagram story by none other than queen Tay herself.
On Friday, the Midnight Rain singer addressed the major failure that was The Eras Tour presale – both TaylorSwiftTix and Capital One – by first noting that "it goes without saying that I’m extremely protective of my fans.
"We’ve been doing this for decades together and over the years, I’ve brought so many elements of my career in house. I’ve done this SPECIFICALLY to improve the quality of my fans’ experience by doing it myself with my team who care as much about my fans as I do," she wrote.
"It’s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse."
Next, Swift mentioned she's in search of the same thing most Swifties, members of Congress, and music fans hunting for: answers.
Taylor Swift fails to name Ticketmaster, but there may be a reason
Though Swift failed to name Ticketmaster once, this might be due to legalities. However, she did note that there are a "multitude of reasons why people had such a hard time trying to get tickets," while adding that she and her team are "trying to figure out how this situation can be improved moving forward."
Next, Swift declared, "I’m not going to make excuses for anyone because we asked them, multiple times, if they could handle this kind of demand and we were assured they could." We assume the "them" she's referring to is Ticketmaster, as it's the company that was in charge of the Verified Fan presale dubbed the TaylorSwiftTix presale, and the entire ticketing process for The Eras Tour in general.
"It’s truly amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them," Swift wrote. "And to those who didn’t get tickets, all I can say is that my hope is to provide more opportunities for us to all get together and sing these songs. Thank you for wanting to be there. You have no idea how much that means."
As of now, it doesn't seem likely that more tickets will be released to those who were never able to try their hand at scoring tickets, since Ticketmaster canceled The Eras Tour general ticket sale, naming "unprecedented" presale "demand" as the reason.
However, we wouldn't be surprised to find out there are many more layers to this whole fiasco.
