Did Taylor Swift just confirm her next album at the MTV EMAs?
Düsseldorf, Germany - Taylor Swift won big last night at the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards, and her stunning red-carpet look has spurred new theories about her next move.
The 32-year-old made a rare appearance at the ceremony in Germany, where she was nominated in six categories.
Swift took home the prize for Best Artist, Best Pop, Best Video, and Best Longform Video for her All Too Well (10 Minute Version) short film.
As per usual, Swifties were quick to dissect every detail of the singer's appearance at the show.
The pop star took a break from her re-recordings with the release of her tenth studio album, Midnights. However, she has made it clear that the plans to re-record all of her first six albums are still in place.
Swifties have been obsessing over which re-recording will come next, and it seems that her EMAs look may hold some new clues.
Taylor Swift fuels rumors of Reputation (Taylor's Version)
The music video for Bejeweled all but confirmed that Speak Now (Taylor's Version) would be coming next, but other theories continued to speculate that 1989 (Taylor's Version) could be on its way first.
Now, Swifties are convinced that Swift is teasing the re-recording of her 2017 album Reputation.
On the red carpet last night, the Anti-Hero singer wore a black bodysuit layered with a silver chain-link skirt adorned with emerald stones.
The black and green color combo, which was also found in her eye makeup, led to swift theories that she was teasing Reputation (Taylor's Version).
To add fuel to the fire, fans spotted a snake ring on Tay's hand. Snakes played a key role in Reputation's promotional material and tour stage design, as Swift co-opted the snake emojis that had been thrown her way amid her public feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
It's also worth noting, as Rolling Stone pointed out, that many contracts stop artists from re-recording albums until five years have passed since their release. And it just so happens that last Thursday marked Reputation's five-year anniversary.
Of course, if that's the case, Swift wouldn't have been able to begin re-recording until recently, which would mean that fans won't be blessed with Taylor's Version of the album for a while.
Whether Swift intended the easter eggs as a hint that Reputation (Taylor's Version) is coming next or simply that she's begun working on it, nothing is ever accidental with Tay.
