TAG24's Take: Tame Impala redefines what remixes and B-Sides should be

Santa Monica, California - Tame Impala dropped never-before-heard tracks and remixes on the group's latest release, The Slow Rush B-Sides & Remixes.

Two years after releasing The Slow Rush, Tame Impala is giving fans more music with various B-Sides that didn't make the initial cut, and remixes to songs that did.

Upon first glance of the eight-track album, it was the remix for Breathe Deeper featuring Lil Yachty that stood out.

Never did I think Tame Impala would enlist the help of Lil Yachty (24), but stranger collaborations – and things – have happened in 2022.

Interestingly enough, the rapper's vocals on the remixed track match the album's collective vibe perfectly while simultaneously giving it new life.

It wasn't only Breathe Deeper that got a funky facelift, either. Tracks like Is It True and Borderline also went for a rework run.

Unlike other remixes, Tame Impala seems to have avoided the pitfall many artists stumble into.

Rather than simply adding a synth beat, excessive base, or stacking original vocals in a new manner, Tame Impala's sole mastermind, Kevin Parker (36), gives listeners an entirely new version to bob their heads to.

Of course, there were also B-Side tracks to get lost in, and get lost we did.

While the album itself is only eight tracks long, one track puts into question how long a fan will listen to a single song.

Tame Impala seems to be betting that the time limit is 18 minutes, as the group placed a version of One More Year on the album that clocks in at just that.

Though it's the length of six songs in one, the recording is quite entrancing in all its trippy wonder.

If you're looking for an album jam-packed with a multitude of remixed vibes, give The Slow Rush B-Sides & Remixes a spin.
