Silk Sonic to open the 2021 American Music Awards
Los Angeles, California – The duo behind Silk Sonic that is Anderson Paak and Bruno Mars will open the American Music Awards on Sunday.
Get your dancing shoes ready, because the 2021 AMAs are packed with star-studded performances, as Silk Sonic is now slated to open the show.
The announcement comes nearly one week after their debut album, An Evening With Silk Sonic, dropped.
Not only will Silk Sonic be opening the fan-voted awards show that's set to be hosted by Cardi B, the duo also racked up three nominations: Favorite Music Video for Leave The Door Open, Favorite Pop Duo or Group, and Favorite R&B Song – also for Leave The Door Open.
This will be Silk Sonic's debut performance at the award show, which comes as no surprise given the group ceased to publicly exist at the time of the 2020 AMAs.
Several other names were added to this year's lineup of performers, such as Chlöe, country artist Mickey Guyton, and a joint performance by Bad Bunny, Tainy, and Julieta Venegas who will sing their hit song, Lo Siento BB.
In her AMAs debut as a solo artist, Chlöe will perform her breakout solo hit, Have Mercy.
In addition to a slew of musical performances, Diplo will play the role of the AMAs first-ever musical curator, spinning his and other artists top hits throughout the show.
The 2021 American Music Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, November 21, at 8 pm EST on ABC, and will be available to stream on Hulu the following day.
