The actor told People about a visit to the surgeon in 2001.

The Basic Instinct star was undergoing breast reconstruction after doctors removed several benign tumors from her chest.

But the procedure didn't go as initially agreed. Instead, the lead surgeon inserted two large breast implants – without Stone's consent.

"When I was unbandaged, I discovered that I had a full cup-size bigger breasts," she recalled.

The doctor "thought that I would look better with bigger, 'better' boobs," the actor said. "He had changed my body without my knowledge or consent."

In her memoir The Beauty of Living Twice, Stone also recounts a second shocking event that occurred in 2001. At the age of 43, she was suffering the effects of a stroke and brain hemorrhage. She was very close to death at the time, she said.

Stone took a two-year break from acting to recover, but the Hollywood hiatus had a devastating effect on her career.

"I lost my place in the business. I was like the hottest movie star, you know? It was like Miss Princess Diana and I were so famous, and she died and I had a stroke. And we were forgotten," she recounted.

"I had to remortgage my house. I lost everything I had," Stone said.

Fortunately, things got better for the Hollywood actor in the years that followed. She now lives in a beautiful home with her son Roan (20); her two adopted sons, Laird (15) and Quinn (14); and a couple of dogs.

"I feel very blessed and happy about the life I got," she now says.
