In June, the 35-year-old central defender and pop superstar Shakira (45) separated after twelve years, and recently pictures also emerged in which the Barça star is said to be smooching with his new flame.

The media coverage of the relationship breakup apparently did not suit the 103-time international at all. In the letters, the 2010 world champion defended himself against the spread of "rumors" and "allegedly unconfirmed information".

"These reports and images not only cause damage to his honor and image, but are also a serious attack on the rights of his children, whose safety and protection are close to his heart," the letter, which was obtained by Marca, read.

In addition, photographers are said to have repeatedly bombarded the famous athlete: "At the same time, Gerard has been continuously monitored by some media and paparazzi, as our client has been forced to change his daily routine just to protect his children."

Now Piqué is even threatening to "request precautionary removal measures and take legal action against those who alter family life and violate the rights of the children."

The now separated couple met while filming the music video for the World Cup hit Waka Waka, which the famous singer contributed to the 2010 tournament in South Africa, and they also have two sons together.

The recordings of the four-time Champions League winner with another woman, snapped during a concert by Spanish artist Dani Martin (45), are said to have hurt the musician.

She was "very angry to see the father of her children with his girlfriend in public," a source close to her explained to Telecinco Socialite.
