Sex and the City stars mourn the tragic passing of Willie Garson
Highland Park, New Jersey - Sex and the City alum Willie Garson has passed away at the age of 57 after a short illness.
On Tuesday, the beloved actor best known for his role as Carrie Bradshaw's BFF Stamford Blatch has shockingly died.
The devastating news was confirmed by his adopted son, Nathen, who penned a heartfelt tribute to his late father on Instagram.
According to People, the 57-year-old had been suffering from pancreatic cancer at the time of his passing.
In June, it was confirmed that the veteran star would reprise his role in the SATC reboot, And Just Like That.
Willie had already shot several scenes for the upcoming series.
Throughout his career, the actor also had significant roles on the shows, White Collar, Hawaii Five-O and the films, There's Something About Mary, and Freaky Friday.
Following the news, the late actor's costars and friends have shared moving tributes honoring him.
Mario Cantone, Willie's on-screen husband, wrote, "I couldn’t have had a more brilliant TV partner. I’m devastated and just overwhelmed with Sadness. Taken away from all of us way soon. You were a gift from the gods sweet Willie. Rest …I love you."
Cynthia Nixon who plays Miranda Hobbs shared, "So deeply, deeply sad we have lost @Willie.Garson. We all loved him and adored working with him. He was endlessly funny on-screen and in real life. He was a source of light, friendship and show business lore. He was a consummate professional – always. My heart goes out to his son, @Nathen_Garson."
She added, "Nathen, I hope you know how much he loved you and how proud he was to be your dad."
Kim Cattrall, best known for her role as Samantha Jones on the original series, also paid tribute to her late costar by calling his death, "Such sad news and a terribly sad loss to the SATC family."
"I love you so much papa. Rest In Peace and I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much," Nathen wrote.
