Seth Rogen goes viral by calling out the 2021 Emmys for breaking Covid-19 protocols
Los Angeles, California - With a smile on his face and a jokey delivery, Seth Rogen lowkey shamed the 27th annual Emmys for playing fast and loose with the Covid-19 protocols – and got a lot of attention for it.
The Pineapple Express star's snazzy outfit wasn't the only thing that had people talking on Sunday.
Seth got up on stage to deliver a few remarks while presenting the night's first award.
But his comedy ended up having a sharp edge, as he complained about the Emmys having so too many people in close quarters.
"They said this was outdoors. It's not. They lied to us. We're in a hermetically sealed tent right now. I would not have come to this. There is way too many of us in this little room," he cracked.
Seth continued, "It's more important that we have three chandeliers than that we make sure we don't kill Eugene Levy tonight. That is what has been decided."
Along with some of the celebrities laughing along somewhat uncomfortably, his points hit home with quite a few Twitter users. Author Richard Hine quipped that the actor seemed "more concerned about Covid safety, his fellow actors’ lives and sending the right message to CBS’s aging viewers than CBS itself," which drew over 4,000 likes.
Afterward, the host of the evening, Cedric the Entertainer, tried to put a different spin on the situation, somewhat at the expense of Nicki Minaj, who recently broke the internet with her #Ballgate controversy.
"It actually feels amazing in here, unlike what Seth (Rogen) was talking about. It feels good. We’re all vaxxed. We had to get vaxxed to come here. I got vaxxed. I did not have a reaction like Nicki Minaj’s cousin’s friend. I got Pfizer because I’m bougie. Pfizer is the Neiman Marcus of vaccines. Moderna, that’s Macy’s. Johnson & Johnson, that’s TJ Maxx," the host joked.
But that didn't do much to shift attention from Seth's speech, as many saw through the weak attempt.
"I appreciate Seth Rogen calling out the crowded indoor setting of the Emmys, both because I was thinking it and because it’s now funny to watch the show scramble to course correct the narrative," journalist Caroline Siede tweeted.
