Is Serena Williams making her comeback sooner than expected?
Palm Beach, Florida - Will record-breaking tennis champion Serena Williams make a comeback at this year's Wimbledon?
When Serena Williams last played on the tennis court, it was for the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
Uncommon for the seven-time Wimbledon champion, she was forced to retire in the first-round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich due to a leg injury.
In the year since, Williams graced red carpets, including the 94th Academy Awards, in support of her family biopic King Richard.
Will we see the 23-time Grand Slam champion trade in the make-up and heels for the tennis racket? If her latest Instagram post on Thursday is any indication, then a comeback may be sooner than expected.
In the reel, set to Dua Lipa's popular hit Physical, the tennis champion transforms her dress and heels into a Nike training outfit.
Serena Williams drops bombs
Williams dropped the bombshell that she could make a return to the court via a video chat with NFL Player Aaron Rogers several weeks ago. In the clip, Williams said she might compete at Wimbledon before hitting the US Open later this summer.
When Williams defeated her older sister Venus to win her historic 23rd Grand Slam at the 2017 Australian Open, she made history by becoming the oldest woman tennis player to win a major title. Williams, now 40, is still breaking barriers as one of the oldest female tennis players on tour.
With younger stars emerging with dominance, how might Williams rank in the mix of the current top players? It's safe to say she can still keep things physical.
