Sadie Sink reveals her hopes for Max's future in Stranger Things 5
New York, New York - Stranger Things star Sadie Sink shared where she hopes the show goes with her character, Max, as fans eagerly await season five.
The 20-year-old dished about her role's future in a new interview with Variety.
Things were left looking pretty grim for Max Mayfield after she narrowly escaped the season's villain, Vecna.
Sink admitted that she doesn't know much yet about what's in the works for the final season of the hit series, but she did give fans some insight into what she hopes comes next for Max.
"I am very excited, I don't know what exactly they plan to do with my character considering where we left off in season four, but I'm anxiously awaiting answers to that," she said.
If it were up to her, Sink would want Max to escape the confines of Hawkins.
"I feel like, after everything Max went through, if she ever wakes up, then I think she would just flee I think she’s gonna get out, get out of Hawkins," she said. "She's too smart to stay there."
Of course, Max is a core member of the friend group at the heart of the series, and Sink admits her loyalty to them might pose a conflict for the character.
Fans of Max's relationship with Lucas will also be pleased to know that they can count Sink among their ranks, as the Whale star admits "they're really cute."
"I think we gotta see something, there's definitely room to grow there," Sink said.
Sadie Sink spills behind-the-scenes secrets of Stranger Things
The young actor also spilled some secrets behind the filming of the show's most recent season.
Sink admitted that filming Max's near-death scene in the film episode was particularly tough, given how close she had grown to costar Caleb McLaughlin.
"Especially with someone like Caleb, who I've known since I was 14, he's like family at this point, to have a really sad death scene is very emotional," she said.
Naturally, the actors were able to laugh it off by the end, often making fun of one another during the shoot.
Many fans have noted that Stranger Things often shies away from killing off any major characters, instead often choosing to do away with new faces.
But Sink revealed that Max's outcome was almost very different this season. "I didn't know this until I read it in an interview, but I think Matt and Ross [Duffer] were planning to kill me off, like completely kill me off," she said.
Thankfully, the show has left some hope for the beloved character in the final season.
However, with season five being teased by the Duffer brothers as quite the emotional ride, fans may have to prepare for some serious heartbreak this time around.
