Rupert Grint's revelations about filming Harry Potter may have fans falling off their broomsticks
London, UK - British actor Rupert Grint remembers the filming of the Harry Potter movies as very demanding at times.
"There was definitely a time where it felt quite suffocating," Grint (32) said on the Armchair Expert podcast of his time filming the Harry Potter series.
"I mean, it was heavy going. It was kind of every day for, I think, 10 years in the end," he continued.
At the same time, Grint stressed that also he enjoyed his time in front of the camera as Ron Weasley: "I mean, it was a great experience and such a nice kind of family atmosphere. It was always kind of all the same crew we grew up with. So it was a great place to be, but sometimes it definitely felt like I want to do something else. See what else is out there."
Doing eight movies sometimes felt like too much: "It just never ended. Every year we came back, and it was kind of like 'Groundhog Day.' It was the same sets. It was the same people."
After the final film ended, Grint did decide to take a different direction, purchasing an ice cream van to live out a childhood dream of being an ice cream man, HuffPost reported.
He even drove around giving free scoops to children!
Grint had his first child in May 2020, together with his long-term partner Georgia Groome (29).
He is looking forward to this new phase of his life as a father: "Now I’ve got a kid. That’s going to be a whole new kind of era."
