Petition to remove Amber Heard from DC sequel blows up with millions of signatures
Yucca Valley, California - A Change.org petition to have Amber Heard removed from the upcoming Aquaman sequel has reached over 4.5 million signatures!
Heard's defamation case with ex-husband Johnny Depp has made her into a villain to some, and although a verdict was reached on Wednesday, fans are now trying to hit her where it truly hurts – her career.
The author of the petition explains that Heard "has been exposed as a domestic abuser" and has demonstrated "a repeated pattern" of such behavior.
"Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment should and must remove Heard from their Aquaman 2 film project. They must not ignore the suffering of Heard's victims, and must not glamorize a domestic abuser," the author wrote.
During the trial, Heard said of Aquaman 2, "I fought really hard to stay in the movie." She explained that due to the suit's controversy, her role was "very pared-down" in the end.
The petition was originally started in 2020 but only really gained traction during the case. As it reached its goal of 4.5 million signatures on Thursday, it became one of the most popular petitions ever created on the platform.
Aquaman is expected to be released in March 2023.
