Pete Davidson gives a timeline for his epic tattoo removal project
Staten Island, New York – Pete Davidson and tattoos were once synonymous. Now, the comedian is in the gruesome process of getting 104 tattoos lasered off.
While it's no mystery that Davidson is in the process of getting tattoos removed, he recently revealed the scale of the project in an interview with People TV: all 104 pieces of ink must go!
The King of State Island star was rumored to have started the tattoo removal process in 2020, with film critic Mike McGranaghan confirming the 27-year-old was sick of spending hours in a makeup chair getting his ink covered, and it'd just be easier to burn them off.
It appears that Davidson has made quite the progress, though he told People TV he's nowhere near the finish line.
"They said by the time I'm 30, they should all be gone. So they got like two more years left of this," Davidson said.
Davidson's tattoo removal featured in Smartwater ad
In an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers in May, Davidson confirmed his plans for the major transformation.
"You have to get there three hours earlier to cover all your tattoos, because for some reason, people in movies–they don't have them," he told the host.
This week, the drinks brand Smartwater debuted its partnership with Davidson in a commercial that featured the comedian getting his tattoos lasered off.
"I've made a lot of questionable choices, and a couple of them need removing," he says in the ad.
The offer of a partnership apparently came as a shock to Davidson, who said he couldn't believe that such a "prestigious" company would want to work with him. Despite the clip making it seem like Davidson is at a real appointment, the SNL cast member said he hasn't been to an appointment in four to five years.
It seems impossible to imagine Davidson without tattoos, but it's a sacrifice he's willing to make for his art.
