The unexpected success of Olivia Rodrigo's debut single, Driver's License, catapulted the teen sensation towards the forefront of the spotlight seemingly overnight.

Following the record-smashing release of her debut album, Sour – which was RIAA certified Gold in its first week – Rodrigo has a new publishing group to call home.

On Wednesday, Sony Music Publishing announced in a press release that they had signed the multi-platinum singer-songwriter to a global agreement.

In the release, Rodrigo said, "There's nothing I love more than songwriting; it's my favorite thing in the world, and I'm excited to be working with the team at Sony Music Publishing."

Following the release of Sour, Rodrigo broke Spotify's record for the most-streamed album in a week by a female artist, with over 385 million global streams.

The breaking of records didn't end there. Each of the album's 11 tracks also landed in the top 30 of Billboard's Hot 100, making Rodrigo the first female artist in history to have 11 or more songs simultaneously in the top 30.

Speaking on Rodrigo's impressive artistic and lyrical abilities, Sony Music Publishing's chairman and CEO Jon Platt said, "Olivia is a once-in-a-generation talent with the heart of a true songwriter – there is no limit to what she can accomplish."

He continued, "We look forward to supporting Olivia's incredible artistry and creating the best opportunities for her songs as she begins this exciting new chapter."

Specific details of what Rodrigo's global agreement with Sony Music Publishing entails are not yet available, but there's no doubt the songstress will continue to create masterpieces whilst backed by a leading publisher in the music industry.
