Nicki Minaj's longest hiatus on Instagram ends with hot new picture
New York, New York - Nicki Minaj's first Instagram posts after her longest hiatus yet has fans of the pop star excited for a potential new album release. Could the spicy Barbie be back?
Nikki Minaj broke her longest hiatus from Instagram yet when the rapper shared two spicy pictures of herself. They showed the "Bang Bang" singer covered in nothing but sparkling diamond jewelry, hot pink crocs, and two pink plush pillows. She is mounted on a desk and doesn't seem to be wearing anything else.
The post was captioned "F R I D A Y 🤞🏽," possibly referring to a future release or announcement. Though brief, the caption, and the pink aesthetics were enough to generate plenty of buzz on social media, with many hoping that this means new music from the rapper is on the way.
It's pretty genius marketing, generating increased hype also off the back of an Instagram hiatus longer than any she has taken before - three whole months!
Nicki Minaj's hiatus-breaking Instagram post follows eventful years
Minaj, whose real name is Onika Maraj, welcomed her first child in September 2020. In February, her father, Robert Maraj, tragically passed away after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident.
Minaj's last studio album, "Queen", was released in 2018, but the rapper has made guest appearances and features on a number of other tracks, including on "Say So" with Doja Cat.
Fans have also speculated that the rapper could be releasing Pink Friday 2, which would be the follow-up project to her critically-acclaimed first album, due to the obvious color scheme and date.
Either way, it looks like Friday is gearing up to be a big day for hip-hop! Rapper J. Cole is also releasing his next project, The Off-Season, on the same day.
