Nick Cannon sets the record straight on child support rumors: "I definitely spend a lot more than that"

Los Angeles, California - Nick Cannon, who currently has 11 children with a baby on the way, gave some insight into how much he spends annually in child support.

California family law attorney Goldie Schon recently told The Sun that he estimates Cannon pays around $3 million in child support annually.

"If he is taking home somewhere upward of $5 million a year, you have to look at what it would take to have the children kept in the lifestyle of both parents," she explained. "The lifestyle has to be the same with mom as it is with dad."

Schon was also critical of the star and his many partners' abilities to co-parent.

"While Nick may very well be keeping his mothers and children financially stable, the hard part is being there for the children and parenting," she said. "I would like to see Nick do more of that."

Cannon, who welcomed his 11th child into the world with Abby De La Rosa last Friday, joined the entertainment blog The Neighborhood Talk for an interview, and took the opportunity to respond to Schon's claims.

"I definitely spend a lot more than [$3 million] on my children annually," he shared, adding, "I don't plan to ever have to participate in the governmental system of child [support]."

Nick Cannon has always been open about his polygamy ways

Cannon, who has been widely criticized for his baby-making ways, has long been open about how he prefers polygamy to monogamy and absolutely loves being a father to his growing family.

"I've seen where people believe a traditional household works, and [yet] there's a lot of toxicity in that setting," he shared in an interview with Men's Health. "It's not about what society deems is right. It's like, what makes it right for you? What brings you happiness? What allows you to have joy and how you define family? We all define family in so many different ways."

Nick Cannon and partner Alyssa Scott revealed earlier this month that they are expecting, which will be baby No. 12 for the star.
