Ne-Yo speaks out after wife's bombshell cheating claims
Los Angeles, California - After Ne-Yo's wife dropped some bombshell cheating claims over the weekend, the R&B star responded with a call for privacy.
The 42-year-old reacted following his wife Crystal Smith's scathing – and very public – accusations of unfaithfulness.
On Saturday, she savagely called out the singer in an Instagram post in which she claimed that Ne-Yo had been sleeping around with "numerous women" for the past eight years of their relationship.
"To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist. I will no longer lie to the public or pretend that this is something it isn't. I choose me, I choose my happiness and health and my respect," the CEO of NudeLuxeRx Skincare wrote, implying that she's leaving her husband.
The following day, the So Sick artist took to Twitter to ask for the matter to be kept out of the spotlight.
"For the sake of our children, my family and I will work through our challenges behind closed doors. Personal matters are not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forums. I simply ask that you please respect me and my family’s privacy at this time," Ne-Yo wrote.
Ne-Yo hit with backlash over cheating allegations
Though this latest development came as a shock, given that the spouses had remarried in Las Vegas just months ago, this isn't the first time they've had relationship drama.
Back in 2020, Ne-Yo announced the pair's separation and intention of divorcing.
But the two reconciled during Covid-19 quarantine and welcomed their third child together in 2021.
After Smith's revelations, some Twitter users blasted Ne-Yo and his response.
"How you gon ask us to 'respect your family' when you don’t respect your family??" one person tweeted.
Another fan wrote, "But you already got a lot of women in your privacy unprotected."
The songwriter, who's real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, married Crystal Renay Williams in 2016.
