Mourning in Hollywood: Star Wars actor Trisha Noble has died
Sydney, Australia - Actor and singer Trisha Noble has passed away at the age of 76.
The Australian had a number of hits in the 1960s and appeared in two Star Wars films. As NY Press News reports, the star passed away on January 23 after an 18-month battle with cancer.
Noble reportedly suffered from mesothelioma, a tumor caused by inhaled asbestos fibers.
The star may be best known for her role as Jobal Naberrie in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002). She also appeared in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005).
Jobal was the mother of Padmé Amidala, portrayed by Natalie Portman (39), in the films. However, her scenes from the second part were cut out in the final film version and only made it to the DVD extra.
As a singer, the Sydney-born woman was very successful. She began her career under her original name, Patsy Ann Noble. In Australia, she was a welcome guest on TV shows and won the prize for Best Female Singer of the Year at the 1961 Logie Awards.
She then became successful in the UK due to her acting skills, securing many smaller roles. For example, she appeared in 1969's The Totally Crazy Camping Paradise. She also starred in the 1980 comedy Six Corpses and No Murder.
When Noble moved to America, she changed her name to Trisha. There, she appeared in Columbo, a popular mystery series about an LA homicide detective, played by Peter Falk (†83) in an iconic brown trench coat.
Noble returned to her native Australia in the 2000s, where she passed away just days before her 77th birthday.
