Louis Tomlinson confesses he was jealous of Harry Styles' success
London, UK - Singer Louis Tomlinson is revealing his true feelings about his former bandmate's massive success.
In a new interview with The Telegraph, the 30-year-old spoke candidly about how Harry Styles' superstardom has made him feel.
The pair were both members of the boy band One Direction from 2010 to 2016 alongside Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik, who departed the band in 2015.
Since the band split up, Styles has established himself as a solo artist with three hit albums, and his consistently sold-out tours have become something of a cultural phenomenon. In the past year, the 28-year-old has also put his acting chops on display in two major pictures, Don't Worry Darling and My Policeman.
Tomlinson, who's set to release his sophomore album Faith in the Future on Friday, admitted that his ex-bandmate's career has made him envious in the past.
"I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me at first," the 30-year-old confessed.
Louis Tomlinson comments on Harry Styles' success
Tomlinson explained that it was hard not to compare himself to the As It Was singer because of their shared start in One Direction.
"I didn't know where to place myself, and really my only point of reference was other members of the band," he explained.
Still, the Two of Us artist spoke highly of Styles, telling the publication, "But it's not surprising to me that Harry's the most commercially successful because he really fits the mold of a modern star."
"He's not just doing music, he's got film as well, and the tour he's done is unbelievable," he continued.
Though the former bandmates may not be as close as they used to be, it's clear that it's still all love between them.
"I look on Harry like a brother, man. I have a lot of pride for what he's doing," Tomlinson said.
