London court makes ruling on sexual assault charges against Rex Orange County
London, UK - A London court has officially dismissed the six sexual assault charges against English musician Rex Orange County.
The 24-year-old, whose real name is Alexander O'Connor, was charged with six counts of sexual assault in October that stemmed from an incident in June.
A woman claimed that O'Connor had assaulted her multiple times in London. He had previously denied all the allegations.
On Thursday morning, the singer shared a post on Twitter where he announced that an investigation by the Crown Prosecution Service had led to the dismissal of all charges.
"I have always denied these allegations and am grateful that the independent evidence has cleared me of any wrongdoing," O'Connor wrote. "I have never assaulted anyone and I do not condone violence or abusive behavior of any kind."
The Pluto Projector artist also provided further details about the investigation and the subsequent dismissal of all charges. "The only evidence against me was the individual's account," he said. "However, CCTV footage obtained by the police contradicted their version of events."
Before the dismissal, a provisional trial date had been set for January 3, and O'Connor had canceled his upcoming tour dates due to "unforeseen personal circumstances."
