Lil Nas X is being honored in a major way!
New York, New York – Lil Nas X is getting honored for his exceptional songwriting!
After a two-year absence, the annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala is back!
Though he's not an inductee, Lil Nas X is poised to receive the Hal David Starlight Award at the event, which recognizes "gifted young songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs," per the SHOF website.
The ceremony is slated for June 16 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
With the prestigious honor, Lil Nas X joins other celebs like Drake, Taylor Swift, Benny Blanco, John Legend, Alicia Keys, John Mayer, and more who have previously received the award.
SHOF chair Nile Rogers stated, "Lil Nas X is someone we are very proud to award the Hal David Starlight Award to. He has perhaps better than anyone demonstrated how powerful great songs are, with Old Town Road and Montero dominating the charts for almost every day of the last three years."
This year's class of SHOF inductees includes notable music artists such as Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, Mariah Carey, Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes, Steve Miller, and more.
Lil Nas X will embark on his first nationwide tour three months after receiving the Hal David Starlight Award, where he's sure to put on one heck of a show!
