Laverne Cox pokes fun at Beyoncé mistaken identity fiasco
New York, New York - Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox had a case of mistaken identity when fans confused her for Beyoncé!
There was a bit of a hilarious mix-up during Serena Williams' first round win at the US Open on Monday.
It all started with a Twitter user shared a viral clip on Twitter featuring Cox cheering for the tennis legend while wearing a black face mask and silver hoop earrings, paired with a sheer black top and tan leather pants.
But confusion quickly ensued when the user captioned the tweet: "Beyonce at the #USOpen."
As people went back and forth over whether the star in the video was Cox or Queen Bey, the Inventing Anna actor decided it was time to bring some clarity.
"Girl it was me. Lol," the 50-year-old replied in a tweet.

In the end, Cox wasn't that upset to be mistaken for the songstress.
The Charlie's Angels star continued the banter in an Instagram post filled with funny clips from the mistaken identity fiasco.
"Not me getting mistaken for @Beyonce at the #USOpen tonight then trending on Twitter as the internet cackles over the mistaken identity. These tweets are funny as hell. Enjoy!!!
Go @serenawilliams #GOAT#SerenaWilliams #Beyonce," she joked the caption.
It was all a bit of good-natured fun. And let's be honest, who wouldn't want to be mistaken for Queen Bey?
