On December 13, Rogel Aguilera-Mederos received a 110-year prison sentence for his role in a fatal auto collision in April 2019 that killed four people and injured several others due to a brake failure.

Since then, social media users have expressed their outrage over his sentencing, which many believed to be excessive and unfair.

"I feel so sorry for this young man," said one Facebook user. "It's an accident, he didn't use the truck to intentionally kill people. There are career criminals out there that deserve harsher punishment but this? I just don't see it."

On Tuesday, ABC News reported the Colorado First Judicial District Attorney's Office had filed a motion to start the reconsideration process for the 25-year-old's sentence "as soon as practicable."

Following the news that his sentencing might be reconsidered, Kim Kardashian joined the conversation and offered up her own legal two cents on Aguilera-Mederos' case and conviction.

In a lengthy Twitter thread posted on Tuesday, Kardashian wrote, "I know everyone has been posting about Rogel Aguilera-Mederos this week. I took a deep dive in it to figure out what the situation is."

Kardashian calls for Aguilera-Mederos' sentence to be commuted

The 41-year-old, who recently passed the baby bar, went on to say that that Judge who proceeded over the trial, A. Bruce Jones, was unable to change the sentencing due to current Colorado law.

"Another shocking and unfair part of this case is that the judge didn’t want to sentence him to such a lengthy sentence. However, because of the mandatory minimums in Colorado, his hands were tied. Mandatory minimums take away judicial discretion and need to end," she wrote.

Kardashian then called Governor Jared Polis a "good person" before putting her full faith in him to "do the right thing."

"I pray that Governor Polis, who has been a leader on supporting reforms that increase human dignity in the legal system, will commute his sentence."

In October, CNN reported that a jury found the truck driver guilty on 27 of the 46 counts he was charged with, including four counts of involuntary manslaughter and six counts of aggravated assault.

While the judge recognized that the 25-year-old had no intention of harming anyone, he still sentenced him to 110 years behind bars – citing his hands were tied because of the statutory minimum sentences.

"If I had the discretion, my sentence would be different," the judge said at the time of sentencing.
