Kim Kardashian is part of a campaign to destigmatize menstruation – and she might not even know it.
Milan, Italy – An Italian artist has painted murals of Kim Kardashian and Marge Simpson menstruating for an exhibit he calls Break The Taboo.
On Thursday murals were seen of Kim Kardashian and the fictional TV character Marge Simpson around Milan, Italy as a part of Italian artist aleXsandro Palombo's latest exhibit.
The murals showcase both Kim and Marge menstruating for an exhibit honoring International Menstrual Hygiene Day.
While the artwork might seem strange, the motivation behind it is to break the stigma around one of the most natural parts of life.
The artist posted both murals on his Instagram account and explained his thinking.
On the post featuring Kim's mural, the caption read, "To fight social inequalities and gender disparities, we must also go through menstrual equity."
It's unclear whether Palombo acquired permission to use the image and likeness of the reality TV star, but it wouldn't be the first time the artist included a Kardashian in an exhibit without their approval.
According to the New York Post, he altered pictures of Kim and Kendall Jenner (25) for an exhibit about domestic violence in 2015, depicting them with bruises.
When Kim and Kendall found out, they had their lawyers reach out to Palombo, offering a warning rather than taking immediate legal action against him.
Kim has yet to comment on the exhibit or her role in its creation.
