Kim Kardashian addresses the outrage over her Vatican outfit
Rome, Italy – Kim Kardashian caused outrage on the internet yet again after flaunting her figure in a revealing dress at the Vatican. Now, she's publicly defending her fashion choice and letting people know things weren't as they seemed.
On Wednesday, Kim visited the Vatican, but it was her outfit that sparked outrage. The business mogul and reality star was photographed wearing a sheer lace dress with various cut-outs revealing her stomach.
The 40-year-old seems to have noticed the chatter, and low-key addressed the controversy in an Instagram post full of photos from her day exploring the Vatican City.
In the post's caption, Kardashian wrote, "Don't worry, I adhered to the dress code and fully covered up while inside St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel's."
It may come as news to some that there is actually a dress code in place for those visiting the papal city. According to the Vatican City Tours, women are prohibited from wearing shorts, skirts, or dresses above the knee. Sleeveless tops and low-cut shirts are also banned.
Men must take their hats off when in the Vatican City, but women are allowed to wear theirs. If their outfits don't adhere to the rules, visitors have to buy a shawl and cover up.
Given the sheer elements of her floor-length dress, its off-the-shoulder style, and the revealing cut-outs, people initially questioned how Kardashian was even allowed in.
The SKIMs founder defended her fashion choices and even shared a photo that shows her sitting down with a black jacket on, covering her shoulders and midriff.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star wasn't alone on her tour of the Vatican. She was joined by model Kate Moss (47) and her dear friend and makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic (37).
