Kesha reveals that many fans have been pronouncing her name wrong!
Los Angeles, California - Have you ever wondered how to correctly pronounce Kesha's name? Well, don't worry. The singer is here to help.
In a stitch with TikTok user Mahagony, who asked her followers to reveal their names and how other people mispronounce it, the singer admitted that many of her fans have no idea how to pronounce her name correctly.
To finally set the record straight and clear up any confusion, she explained: "My name is Kesha. Keh-sha. Not Keisha. Not Ketchup. Kesha."
Some of her 1.9 million followers were left in shock: "So you're telling me it's not Ke-dollar sign-ha?'"
Others just couldn't get over the fact that some people were seriously calling her ketchup.
"You've got to be kidding. Who says ketchup?" a commenter wrote with laughing emojis.
Singer Kesha's mom chimes in
Kesha's mom, songwriter Pebe Sebert (65), also chimed in on the debate – sharing the origin of the special name in a TikTok video.
"So the name Kesha is actually a Hungarian family name that Lagan [Kesha's brother] would have been named if he had been a girl," she said.
"The name is actually pronounced Ke-ta-cha in Hungarian, and I decided to make it easier, and to make it Kesha," she further explained.
Fun fact: Kesha's full name is Kesha Rose Sebert!
