Kendrick Lamar shows the dark side of love in We Cry Together short film

Los Angeles, California - Kendrick Lamar released an unapologetically raw short film for the song We Cry Together off his fifth studio album Mr. Morale & the High Steppers.

K.Dot is truly leveling up on the visionary genius playing field, and his new short film depicting an abusive relationship between himself and collaborator Taylour Paige shows his evolution as an artist.

The nearly five-and-a-half minute video starts off with Lamar and Paige in a small apartment, with the rapper sitting in a chair looking rather agitated as Paige walks around the bathroom in the background taking in his pointed remarks.

The song easily lends itself to a short film adaptation, with theatrical elements highly present in Lamar's cadence on the song's first verse.

The film plays out as an argument between the apparent couple that escalates and intensifies with each verse, leading to the chorus where Paige and Lamar exchange impassioned "f**k you" digs.

At one point, Lamar hides Paige's keys just when she's trying to get out the door for work, and proceeds to lock himself in the bathroom to further delay her departure. But like any good lover's quarrel, theirs ends with steamy make-up sex on the couch.

In support of the film's release, Lamar wiped his Instagram feed, leaving one post: a clip of the new video.
