Kelly Rowland defends Chris Brown's AMA win amid vicious booing
Los Angeles, California - There was certainly drama during singer Chris Brown's big win and supposedly scrapped performance at this year's American Music Awards.
On Sunday evening, the 33-year-old R&B star inadvertently caused a little controversy during music's big night, though he wasn't even present at the annual event.
The drama began on Saturday when he teased fans with a sneak peek of his rehearsal for a Michael Jackson tribute on Instagram.
Yet, Brown claimed in a comment that his planned set was for the awards show and then pulled for "reasons unknown."
"WOULD'VE been the AMA performance but they canceled me for reasons unknown," he wrote under the post. Fellow music artist Ciara also posted rehearsal footage on Monday of being a part of the MJ tribute alongside Brown.
The performance's apparent unexplained cancellation is possibly why Brown singer skipped out on the yearly ceremony, where he won the award for Favorite Male R&B Artist.
But his big win was severely upstaged by a scorching round of "boos" in response from the audience.

Presenter and Destiny's Child alum Kelly Rowland accepted the award on Brown's behalf while the crowd seemed to viciously slam the win.
"Excuse me, chill out," the 41-year-old songstress told the audience.
She continued, "I want to tell Chris thank you so much for making great R&B music and I want to tell him thank you for being an incredible performer."
"I'll take this award, bring it to you. I love you. Congratulations," she concluded the speech.
Elsewhere, other artists have sounded off on Brown's moment on social media after a clip of Rowland's acceptance speech circulated the internet.
Rapper The Game defended the Indigo singer on his IG story by writing, "When they pulled @chrisbrownofficial's performance, all hip-hop and R&B artists should've declined, too."
"But we'll never be unified & that's why they keep & will always use us, suck the culture dry & disrespect us in our faces & behind our backs," The Game concluded.
