Kanye West's DONDA release delayed after holding second listening party
Atlanta, Georgia – Despite holding a second listening party, Kanye West has delayed the released of his next album, DONDA, yet again.
Fans of Kanye West have been waiting for the artist's highly-anticipated new music for what feels like ages.
The album's release, which was first set for July 23 and then moved to August 6, has been delayed once again.
Despite holding his second listening party for the album on Thursday – attended by ex-wife Kim Kardashian – which was supposed to lead up to the album's release that night, DONDA still hasn't been gifted to the world for its listening pleasure.
After failing to drop the album following the first listening party on July 23, West moved into the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia to finish the album and get everything ready for its updated release date on August 6.
While there's disappointment in the air regarding West's second release delay for DONDA, it's not a total shock that the rapper has chosen to push back an album drop.
The 44-year-old has become well-known for tinkering with his songs at the last minute.
His label doesn't seem to mind, given: It is Kanye West, after all.
Twitter users wondered about the album's delay
A history of delayed album releases
The delays with West's release dates have been a part of his artistic makeup since his first album, The College Dropout.
Its original release date of January 27, 2004, was moved to February 10, 2004 due to several songs being leaked – sending West back to the studio to remake the tracks.
The release of his second album, Late Registration, was also pushed back twice simply because West wasn't ready for it to drop, according to Newsweek.
Another of West's albums, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, was set to be released ahead of schedule on September 14, 2010, but ended up being pushed back twice, finally being released on November 22, 2010.
The height of West's last-minute fine-tuning came with the release of his last drop. According to Newsweek, the album went through various names and several release dates over the span of a year.
Initially set to be released in September 2018 under the name of Yandhi, the album eventually dropped in October 2019 with the title Jesus is King.
Though West has yet to comment on DONDA's untimely release, iTunes now shows the album will be released on Monday, August 9. The world is eagerly waiting to see.
