Kanye "Ye" West to livestream Donda 2 release concert in IMAX
Los Angeles, California - Kanye "Ye" West has teamed up with AMC Theatres to livestream a Donda Experience concert this Tuesday in IMAX theaters, coinciding with his album drop.
The Donda Experience Performance 2 22 22 is scheduled for Tuesday night, the same day his new album Donda 2 will be released, and will take place at Loandepot Park in Miami.
In-person tickets for the show have reportedly sold from $79 to as high as $1,100, but now, fans can watch on an IMAX screen as it happens live. The performance will reportedly be screened across 15 US cities.
"Kanye is one of the most ambitious and groundbreaking artists of our time," President of IMAX Entertainment Megan Colligan said in a statement. "We are grateful for the opportunity to again share his genius with his loyal fans across the country."
Little is known about the concert except that Donda will be performed "along with a listening party of his highly anticipated new album, Donda 2," according to AMC's website. There will also supposedly be a handful of special guests.
The new decision to livestream the event comes after Ye received backlash for revealing he had no plans to release his highly anticipated Donda 2 on popular music streaming platforms – like Spotify and Apple – and the only way fans can hear it is on his Stem Player device, which costs $200.
Aside from attending the Miami concert or purchasing the Stem Player, viewing the IMAX livestream is the only means for fans to hear Donda 2 on its release day.
Ye has been extremely active on social media to promote the record, while also airing out his personal issues, like feuding with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her new beau Pete Davidson.
The rapper is also in the process of releasing his three-part Netflix documentary Jeen-yus, which will air its part two on Wednesday, one day after the album drops.
With so much hype surrounding the release of Donda 2 and Ye's controversial antics, we are excited to see what Kanye has in stores for fans.
