On Wednesday, an open letter in support of Heard was published and signed by over 130 self-deemed "experts," including feminist groups, trained doctors, therapy professionals, and public figures like Gloria Steinem and Hollywood's Constance Wu.

The petition addressed the "damaging consequences" of the explosive Depp vs. Heard trial earlier this year, which ended with the jury siding with the Pirates of the Caribbean alum over Heard stating she was a victim of domestic abuse.

Another fallout from the exes' bombshell trial was the extreme backlash and hate Heard received after Depp made scathing domestic violence accusations against her in return.

"We condemn the public shaming of Amber Heard and join in support of her. We support the ability of all to report intimate partner and sexual violence free of harassment and intimidation," the letter read.

In the months following the end of the ugly defamation trial, Heard has stayed out of the public eye and has reportedly been living overseas with her 18-month-old daughter Oona.

Yet, Depp's fanbase did not take so kindly to the letter.

Heard was once again slammed by the 58-year-old's fandom in response to the letter, as #IStandWithJohnnyDepp became a revived trending topic on Twitter.

Depp supporters pointed out that the Fantastic Beasts star was perhaps himself a victim of abuse by referring to shocking claims he made against his ex-wife and her alleged violent behavior.

One fan wrote, "Friendly reminder: a women’s abuse group spoke out in support of Johnny Depp after he won. This is what true feminism is. Equality for all genders & not automatically siding with a woman."

Another user tweeted the hashtag along with, "Forever and always. And I also stand with all the victims of domestic violence," adding "#MenToo" to the end of the post.

Meanwhile, Depp has been busy reviving his career after he claimed he was blacklisted due to his ex's 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post, over which this year's trial was based, and numerous other court cases involving libel of his name and reputation.

But as Depp and Heard attempt to move on from the scorching court battle – albeit with follow-up appeals in court – perhaps it's time that fans do the same.
