On New Year's Day, Renner was run over by his own snow plow as he was trying to help a relative free their car. The accident left him in critical condition and there were serious fears over his life.

In fact, it turns out we didn't even know the half of it.

"It’s much worse than anyone knows. Jeremy is very aware of the fact that he almost died out there," a source recently told RadarOnline. "The right side of Jeremy’s chest was crushed, and his upper torso had collapsed. He also had a bad head wound that was bleeding and a leg injury."

In the end, though, the quick actions of the actor's neighbors, emergency services, and a big slice of luck mean that he's now on the mend and able to continue his convalescence at home while enjoying the premiere of his Paramount+ show's second season

Replying to a tweet posted by the official Mayor of Kingstown account, Renner confirmed: "Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home."

Renner's recovery could take a while yet

However, the road back will most likely be long.

"Word is the damage to Jeremy’s chest was so substantial it had to be reconstructed in surgery," RadarOnline cited an insider as saying. "So far, he’s had two surgeries and he will likely require more in the weeks ahead on his leg."

Still, the Hawkeye star is clearly in good spirits and good company, judging by his family's round-the-clock care.

As always, everyone's wishing him a speedy recovery!
